Jenel + Anthony

BLIND FAITH + HAPPILY EVER AFTER

A successful set-up leads to lifelong love

Willie Lee (the bride’s cousin and matron of honor’s husband) gets a lot of the credit for the blind date that forever changed the lives of Jenel and Anthony. Their first date took place at Panera Bread over a cup of tea; they then went out every day for the next two weeks, and the rest is history. The couple says they “truly believe this was God's divine timing” and that “life is about being at the right place at the right time.” Anthony and Jenel knew they wanted to get married in Baltimore, and — after visiting a few venues around the Inner Harbor — Jenel fell in love with the classic feel of its older hotels. When she visited Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore with her bridesmaids and saw the marble staircase, she knew this was the place. (With Anthony being on active military duty, the couple also really appreciated the military discount offered.) The joyous celebration was perfectly tailored to fit the bride and groom — a destined duo.

“From choosing the menu to [deciding] where the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were held, every detail was tailored to our wants and needs.”

The mother of the bride and matrons of honor helped her get dressed in the Bridal Suite, while the groom and groomsmen hung out in their own Mediterranean Suite.

Instead of a first look, Anthony and Jenel had a first touch. The mother of the bride, who is also a pastor, prayed for the couple prior to the ceremony.

Since Anthony is a huge Saints fan, the couple chose gold and black as their wedding colors. The ceremony was held in the Paris Ballroom, which featured a white aisle runner and gold vases with floating candles. For the reception, they chose black linens, gold flatware and Chiavari chairs, and minimal (but beautiful) flowers.
