Hotel Monaco Baltimore resides in one of Baltimore's grandest buildings, the former headquarters for one of the pre-eminent companies of its time, the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. The purveyor of rail travel, B&O Railroad meant access to rail travel and all the new possibilities of adventure that came with it, an ability to travel far from the place one called home. Built in 1906, the Beaux Arts-style structure opened two years after Baltimore's Great Fire and was celebrated as a sign of the city's revival.
